A Lake Macquarie Wedding
Being married by the waterfront has never been easier. Head to Lake Macquarie for a weekend of exploring and you will see just what we mean. With 174kms of foreshore, everyone will be able to find a position by the water that suits him or her perfectly.

Lakefront, beaches and even mountains make up the area of Lake Macquarie. If holding your ceremony in a park by the water is what you have always dreamed of, then look no further. Lake Macquarie boasts countless waterfront parks, each with something to offer in their own unique style. There are parks with fixed shelters, perfect for those in between months where you just can't guarantee the weather. There are parks with pretty boats dotted along the waters edge and many that have a jetty stretching out over the lake. The jetties are the perfect place for those special photos, looking dazzling on a summer's day and dramatic in the cooler weather. There are also gardens of roses and trees that you and your bridal party can get lost in for those romantic garden photos. The best part is, most of these parks do not charge any fees to hold your ceremony, which makes your special day that little bit more achievable. When it comes to weddings, every bit of savings counts!

For those being married in a park, or even holding the reception at one of the many waterfront venues, there is the exciting option of arriving by boat. The bride can surprise her groom by showing up on a boat at the ceremony instead of walking down the aisle. Alternatively, they can both escape the ceremony by setting off into the sunset only to be dropped at the reception via water later. The entire bridal party can go on the boat, which will give them a chance to relax after the nuptials and will also provide great photo opportunities.

Being married nearby the water not quite good enough? In Lake Macquarie there is always the option of taking it one step further and being married on the water. Charter a boat for the bridal party and a select group of family and friends and hold your ceremony in the middle of the sparkling waters of the lake. You can even be dropped off at the doorstep of your reception straight after!

But don't be fooled by the name, Lake Macquarie isn't only about the water. The backdrop of the gorgeous Watagan mountain range means you can also have a wedding in the bushes. Or if you can't decide, combine both water and mountains by holding your ceremony in one and your reception in the other!

More About Lake Macquarie
Lake Macquarie is just 1.5 hours drive from Sydney, and is located between the Central Coast and Newcastle. It is an easy place to access for guests travelling from interstate as they can choose to fly into Sydney airport or Newcastle airport for a quick journey to Lake Macquarie. The lake itself is the largest coastal saltwater lake in Australia. It is 24kms long and has 174kms of shoreline. To give some perspective on how large that is, it is over four times the size of Sydney Harbour.

Because of all of this water, the most popular attractions for tourists to partake in are water sports. There is kayak hire, catamaran charters, thrilling jet boat rides and slower boat rides for the tamer at heart. Aside from the water sports you can also hire bikes to take a ride around the lakes edge, there are art galleries to browse through and make sure you also check out the local markets.

Having a wedding in Lake Macquarie means not only a gorgeous wedding day, but also a beautiful weekend away for all guests as well.
